Eva's Solo

There are some moments in life that define you. I had never choreographed a contemporary solo before and Eva had never done a solo. We scheduled some studio time and started with a song. Slowly we created a beautiful, inspiring and empowering piece. I was so proud of her as everything is so much harder than it looks. Here are the lyrics to her piece called the "Break-up song" by Francesca Battistelli

Fear, you don't own me
There ain't no room in this story
And I ain't got time for you
Telling me what I'm not
Like you know me well guess what?
I know who I am
I know I'm strong
And I am free
Got my own identity
So fear, you will never be welcome here
Eva says, just like the song says-know who you are, be strong, be brave, and be free from fear. I was so nervous as I went on stage, but then when the song came on I realized there was nothing to be afraid of. I would do my best to sing the song with my movements and " Be strong and brave." This would show to the judges I was not afraid to show my talent and feelings by myself on the stage. Also at the end it wasn't just power that got me high, it was my joy and my pride.
